Hiccup I think would be a scrawny son of Hephaestus who everybody says should really be in the Athena cabin. I first thought he would be a son of Athena, but then the entire point of Hiccup is that he didn’t fit the mold of his peers. His inventions are unlike those of his brothers and sisters, because each of them is tailored to a specific person instead of the general public. I think because of his perceptiveness, he was the first one to suggest that Jack was the son of Boreas, and helped him channel his ice powers through the staff that he made for him.
Jack would be the son of a minor god, because I think the idea of not being recognized/having his own cabin fits in with his original storyline, and also because he would get his trickster tendencies from the Hermes cabin. I like the idea of him being the son of Boreas, god of the north wind and bringer of winter. (I would also love to see the animosity between him and Khione) He wasn’t claimed until the end of the Second Titan War, and now lives alone in the Boreas cabin. He’s always felt unwanted by his father, who didn’t even bother to claim him and still never talks to him.
Merida, obviously, would be a daughter of Apollo (god of archery). I think she would have joined the Hunters of Artemis at one point (you know, swearing off the companionship of all men and stuff) but left the hunters because she didn’t like the idea of never growing up.
Rapunzel I also see as a daughter of Apollo, (god of medicine, the sun, arts, etc) born with the gift of healing with her magical hair by singing a hymn to her father. She shares the senior counsellor position with Merida, because they she and Merida are the best at healing and archery, respectively.
(P.S.: I know that there are other theories out there, and I think they’re cool too! Let’s not turn this into the Hogwarts Houses thing?)
